servings: 2
Ingredients
- 1 pack tofu firm
- 2 Tbsp sesame oil
- 1 green onion
- 1 cup white rice
- 1 cup General Tso or Sesame / Soy Sauce
- Sesame seeds
- Pepper + to taste
Instructions
- Take the tofu package and cut an opening to drain the water. After draining, open the package and place the tofu on a cutting board.
- Cut the tofu block in half to create 2 pieces with less thickness / depth.
- Place the tofu on a small towel and fold the towel covering the tofu. Press down on each piece of tofu to drain the retained water. After drained, place the tofu back on the cutting board.
- Cut each block of tofu into thirds and then again creating 9 squares out of each block.
- In a large pan, drizzle sesame oil to cover the pan.
- Place the tofu in the pan, covering both top and bottom of each piece of tofu with the sesame oil, and then sprinkle pepper on top.
- Clean off the cutting board, and cut up some green onion for when the tofu is done cooking.
- Cook 1 cup white rice.
- Cook the tofu for around 5-6 minutes on a heat of about 3 or 4 so that it will not stick to the bottom. This step is complete when the bottom of the tofu is slightly browned.
- Flip each piece of tofu and cook for another 2-4 minutes until the other side is slightly browned.
- Nearing finished, add some General Tso or Sesame / Soy Sauce to the pan with some sesame seeds and cook on low for 2-3 minutes letting the sauce absorb into the tofu.
- Plate the tofu topping each piece with a drizzle of General Tso or Sesame / Soy Sauce and green onion.
- Serve with white rice. Enjoy!
